Cathédrale Saint-André

Monumental Gothic cathedral with rooftop views from the bell tower

Built in the 12th century and expanded in the 13th and 15th, this is Bordeaux's most important church — rivalling Notre-Dame de Paris in scale. The exterior is richly decorated with sculpture depicting the Last Supper, the Ascension, and the Resurrection. The separate bell tower, the Tour Pey-Berland, offers views over the rooftops. Entry to the cathedral is free.
