Wine is the obvious thing to buy in Bordeaux, and there are good specialist shops across the city. L'Intendant on the Allées de Tourny is the most theatrical: a five-storey spiral of wine bottles built around a central staircase. The Sunday antiques market along the Quai des Chartrons is the best non-wine shopping, with a genuine mix of furniture, art, and bric-a-brac rather than tourist trinkets.
