Mont-de-Marsan's bar culture is tied to its festival identity. Outside of the Fêtes de la Madeleine in July, the town is relaxed and the café terraces fill gently through the afternoon. During festival week, the same streets become the site of continuous music, dancing, and drinking from morning until the early hours. The bars near the arenas and the main square see the heaviest traffic. Year-round, a mid-morning coffee and a tartine on a terrace is one of the pleasures of passing through.
