Bourges is a small city and its nightlife is correspondingly modest, but Place Gordaine and the surrounding lanes have a handful of bars that fill up on summer evenings. The Maison de la Culture programmes occasional concerts and the Printemps de Bourges festival in April turns the whole city into a venue.
For wine, look for Sancerre, Menetou-Salon and Reuilly — three excellent Loire whites produced within an hour's drive. Most wine bars in the old town carry them by the glass.
