Direct trains run from Paris-Austerlitz to Bourges in around two hours; there are also connections from Tours and Nevers. The station is a 15-minute walk from the cathedral, mostly through the Jardin des Prés-Fichaux.
By car, Bourges sits on the A71 motorway between Orléans and Clermont-Ferrand. Drivers heading south through France for the summer holidays often pass within a few kilometres without ever stopping — a habit worth breaking.
The local airport (BOU) takes only a handful of seasonal flights. For most international visitors, the easiest route is to fly into Paris and take the train.
