Musée du Berry

The Berry museum occupies the Hôtel Cujas, a late-15th-century mansion built for a wealthy Florentine merchant. The collection covers the archaeology and ethnography of the surrounding region — Gallo-Roman bronzes, medieval stonework, and an extensive holding of objects from rural Berry: pottery, costume, and the everyday tools of a peasant economy that lasted into living memory.

The standout pieces are the mourners (pleurants) from the tomb of Jean de Berry, exquisitely carved alabaster figures of the late 14th century. Admission is free.
