From Épernay: Hautvillers is 6 km north of Épernay — a 10-minute drive. There is no direct bus service, so most visitors come by car or bicycle. The climb from the valley floor to the village is steep (about 100 metres over 2 km), which makes cycling an effort but the reward — arriving via the vineyard road with the Marne Valley opening out behind you — is worth it. Bicycles can be hired in Épernay.
From Reims: Reims is 25 km to the northeast, about 30 minutes by car via the D951 through the Montagne de Reims. There is no direct public transport link; visitors without a car typically combine Hautvillers with other stops on a self-guided champagne route.
From Paris: Épernay is 1 hour 20 minutes from Paris Gare de l'Est by train (direct TGV to Épernay, or change at Reims). From Épernay station, Hautvillers is a taxi or hire-car journey of 15 minutes.
By car: Hautvillers is signposted from the D951 Épernay–Reims road. The village has a small free car park near the abbey. Parking in the village itself is limited.
