Nice's main shopping district runs along Rue Masséna and Avenue Jean Médecin, both fully pedestrianised, offering the full range of French high street chains and several mid-range department stores. This is efficient but unremarkable shopping. For something more interesting, the streets around Place Garibaldi and the eastern edge of Vieux Nice have seen a cluster of independent boutiques, design shops, and concept stores open in recent years.
The Cours Saleya antique market on Mondays is the best source of affordable curiosities in the city — prints, maps, old bottles, books, and Riviera memorabilia. The covered Marché Saleya also sells regional specialities including locally made socca flour, Niçois olive oil, and lavender products year-round. For high-end fashion, the Carré d'Or district around Rue Paradis west of Place Masséna concentrates the designer labels.
