Casa Xanxo is a Catalan Gothic mansion built in 1506 for Bernat Xanxo, a wealthy cloth merchant. The building is the main draw: look for the carved frieze on the facade and the ceremonial room inside, both reminders that Perpignan was a Catalan city long before it felt French.
The museum element is small, but the house makes a good short stop while walking the old centre between the cathedral, Le Castillet, and the Palace of the Kings of Majorca.
