Pont Neuf

The oldest bridge in Toulouse, with views across the Garonne

Confusingly named — Pont Neuf means "New Bridge" — this is in fact the oldest bridge in Toulouse, built between 1544 and 1632 in the distinctive pink brick that gives the city its nickname. Its seven arches span the Garonne at its widest point and offer the classic view of the riverfront: the brick and stone facades of the Quai de la Daurade reflected in the water, with the towers of the Hôtel-Dieu rising behind. The bridge connects the old centre to the St-Cyprien neighbourhood on the west bank.
