Marché des Halles

Covered market behind the seafront, busiest on Saturday morning.

La Baule's covered market sits a couple of streets behind the casino on Place Lecomte-du-Nouÿ. Inside, you will find fishmongers selling sole and lobster from the Atlantic, oyster sellers from the Bay of Bourgneuf, and producers from the Guérande salt marshes selling fleur de sel by the kilo.

Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday are the main market days, with outdoor stalls spilling onto the surrounding streets. Saturday morning is the social occasion — go early, take cash, and pick up a rotisserie chicken and a couple of bottles of Muscadet from the wine stalls for a beach picnic.
