Getting There

Tours is 56 minutes from Paris-Montparnasse by TGV — about ten trains a day. The high-speed station is the centrally located Gare de Tours; a few TGVs stop at Saint-Pierre-des-Corps a couple of kilometres east, with shuttle trains into the centre. Bordeaux is two hours by TGV; Nantes about ninety minutes by TER via Saumur.

By car, Tours is on the A10 autoroute halfway between Paris and Bordeaux — about two and a half hours from either. The small Tours-Val de Loire airport, 7 km north of the centre, has limited services to a handful of European cities. For most visitors the train is the way in.
