Calais is most easily reached by ferry from Dover — the crossing takes about 90 minutes and services run frequently throughout the day and night. P&O Ferries and DFDS both operate the route. The Eurotunnel shuttle through the Channel Tunnel takes about 35 minutes and loads at the terminal west of Calais; it carries cars and their passengers but not foot passengers.
By train, the nearest Eurostar stop is Lille, about 40 minutes away. Local TER trains connect Calais to Lille several times a day, and Calais-Frethun station (near the Channel Tunnel terminal) has some direct Eurostar stops, though these are primarily for connecting passengers. Calais-Ville station is in the city centre.
By road, Calais sits at the junction of the A16 motorway from Paris and the A26 from Reims. The journey from Paris takes around 3 hours by car.
