The pine forest that borders Le Touquet to the east and south was planted deliberately as part of the town's original development in the late 19th century. It is now a proper forest of several hundred hectares, criss-crossed by footpaths and cycling tracks.
On foot, the forest offers quiet walks away from the beach crowds, with marked trails of varying lengths. By bicycle it is even better — a network of dedicated paths runs through the trees and out to the beach, making it possible to get around most of Le Touquet without touching a road. Bike hire is available in town. In autumn the light through the pines is particularly good.
