Le Touquet

Elegant resort town on the Opal Coast, known for dunes, villas, and a long sandy beach.

Le Touquet-Paris-Plage is a seaside resort on the Opal Coast, about 30 km south of Boulogne. It was developed in the late 19th century as a fashionable retreat for wealthy Parisians and the English gentry, and something of that elegance lingers in the Art Deco villas and the pine-shaded avenues behind the seafront.

The beach is the main draw — a wide stretch of firm sand that runs for kilometres, popular with sand-yachters and kite-surfers when the wind picks up. Behind the beach, the town has a good selection of restaurants ranging from traditional seafood brasseries to more casual fare. Golfers will find one of the finest links courses in northern France at Golf de Le Touquet, and the surrounding pine forest is pleasant for walking and cycling.
