Le Touquet's beach is wide, firm and shallow-shelving, which makes it a forgiving place to learn — the surf is small and disorganised most of the year, but that is not a disadvantage for a first lesson. The same conditions and the enormous low-tide flats also make it the char-à-voile capital of northern France.
Lessons and board hire run from the nautical base at the southern end of the seafront.
