Le Touquet rewards exploration on foot or by bicycle. The long sandy beach stretches for kilometres in both directions and is the starting point for most visits. Behind the seafront, pine-shaded avenues lead through a neighbourhood of Art Deco and Norman-style villas built by wealthy Parisians and English gentry between the wars. The golf courses here are among the best in northern France, and the surrounding pine forest is good for quiet walks or cycling away from the beach crowds.
