Grue Titan Jaune

Bright yellow shipyard crane on Île de Nantes, a landmark of the city’s industrial reinvention.

The Grue Titan Jaune is one of Nantes's clearest symbols of industrial memory left in place. The yellow Titan crane stands on Île de Nantes, where shipbuilding once dominated the riverfront and where the city has since reinvented docks, warehouses, and yards as cultural space. Its value is partly visual: a huge piece of machinery now acting as skyline, sculpture, and reminder.

See it while walking between Les Machines de l'Île, the Loire quays, and the newer development around the island. Together with the grey Titan crane, it keeps the area's transformation honest. Nantes did not become creative by erasing its working waterfront; here, at least, it made the machinery part of the story.
