Musée Granet

Fine arts museum with 18 Cézannes in a priory

Address Place Saint-Jean de Malte, 13100 Aix-en-Provence

A fine arts museum housed in a 17th-century priory of the Knights of Malta. The collection includes 18 paintings by Cézanne — the local boy — alongside works by Rembrandt, Rubens, and a strong selection of French and Italian masters from the 16th to 19th centuries. The Jean Planque collection, added in 2013, brought in Picasso, Klee, Monet, and Van Gogh.

The building itself sits on a quiet square near the old town and is worth the visit for the architecture alone. Allow a couple of hours, more if the temporary exhibitions catch your eye. Closed Tuesdays.
