Every Thursday morning, the streets around the Hôtel de Ville and Place Clemenceau fill with the Thursday market — one of the largest in northern Provence, with about 250 stalls running from 7am to 1pm. The food half stretches along the central streets: Provençal olives, tapenades, cheeses, fresh produce from the surrounding plaine, charcuterie, and trays of navettes and calissons.
A second section sells clothes, fabric, brocante, soaps, and household goods, spilling onto the avenues at the edge of the old town. The car park at the Cours Aristide-Briand fills early; arrive before nine and you can have coffee and watch the stalls go up. The market has run on this day since the Middle Ages.
