Batumi Tower Ferris Wheel

Ferris wheel embedded in the side of a residential skyscraper — a world first

The Batumi Tower is a 35-storey building near the central beach with a Ferris wheel grafted onto one corner of it, roughly two-thirds of the way up. The wheel was added when the tower was finished in 2012 — the first time a ride of this kind had been built into a working building anywhere. The cars seat four or five people and rotate slowly enough to take in the view.

You buy a ticket at the ground floor, ride up in a lift, and step out into the cabin. The view from the top is across the boulevard and out to sea — about 100 metres up. It is mostly fun as a novelty; the regular observation deck on the Alphabetic Tower next door has a better view.

A story
The Batumi Tower is the first building in the world to incorporate a fully functional Ferris wheel into its facade. The wheel was added partly as a publicity feature and partly to make the building's address — for a hotel on the upper floors — unmissable on the city skyline.
