Things to Do

Batumi packs a lot into a compact seaside city. The seven-kilometre Seaside Boulevard is the natural starting point — a long promenade of pine trees, fountains, and cafes that runs along the Black Sea shore. Beyond it, the city has a scattering of parks, an exceptional botanical garden north of town, and a clutch of fortresses and natural reserves in the surrounding Adjara region. Batumi rewards walkers: the old city, with its ornate balconied houses and narrow lanes, is easily covered on foot.
