The classic move is afternoon coffee and cake at Café König on Lichtentalerstraße, a Baden-Baden institution that has been making its own chocolates and pastries since the 1950s. Café Bandi is the slightly less formal alternative.
For evening drinks, the Kurhaus Bernstein-Bar is the dressed-up choice inside the casino building. Leo's Bar on Luisenstrasse is livelier; the wine bars around the Marktplatz favour Baden Spätburgunder and Riesling from just up the road. The town is not a late-night destination — most places shut by midnight.
