Bodensee Promenade

The lakefront promenade runs east to west along the Bodensee shore for several kilometres and is the social heart of Friedrichshafen in summer. Lined with old chestnut trees, it connects the ferry harbour to the swimming beach and passes the Schlosskirche, the Zeppelin Museum entrance, and a string of restaurants and ice cream parlours. On fine days the panorama south to the Swiss Alps is extraordinary — you can see as far as the Säntis massif. Several jetties extend into the lake where you can sit directly above the water. The promenade is flat and easy cycling as well as walking; bike rental is available at multiple points along it.
