Friedrichshafen's restaurant scene is small but solid. The lake provides Bodensee Felchen (whitefish), a local speciality worth ordering at any restaurant with a terrace facing the water. German lakeside cooking tends toward hearty Swabian dishes — Maultaschen (stuffed pasta parcels), Spätzle with roast meats, and grilled fish. The main tourist concentration is along the promenade and around the harbour; prices are reasonable for a German lakeside resort. A few minutes' walk back from the water brings you to more local options at lower prices.
