Freising rewards a day trip or an overnight stay. The Domberg cathedral complex above the town is the obvious centrepiece, but the Weihenstephan hill on the western edge of town holds the world's oldest brewery and a fine botanical garden — a combination hard to argue with. The old town below is compact and worth an hour's wander.
