The Jewish Museum Franken occupies a former Jewish merchant's house in the Altstadt and traces four centuries of Jewish life in Franconia — from the thriving communities of the 17th and 18th centuries through the catastrophic collapse under National Socialism. The collection is thoughtful and specific, drawing on local documents, photographs, and everyday objects rather than abstracted statistics.
A second branch of the museum is in Schnaittach, about 25 km east, but the Fürth house is the main draw. Plan at least 90 minutes. The museum is closed on Mondays.
