Things to Do

Fürth rewards slow walking. The Altstadt holds a remarkable concentration of Biedermeier and Jugendstil architecture, most of it intact — the city escaped the worst of the 1945 bombing that flattened its neighbour. The Jewish Museum Franken is one of the best Jewish history museums in Germany, and the Ludwig-Erhard-Zentrum puts an unfairly overlooked figure of post-war European history in sharp focus. For a slower afternoon, the Stadtpark is genuinely beautiful.
