Gerhard-Marcks-Haus is a focused sculpture museum near Bremen’s Kunsthalle and the old ramparts. It centres on Gerhard Marcks, one of the major German sculptors of the 20th century, while also showing related modern and contemporary figurative sculpture.
The museum is small enough to visit without museum fatigue, and it makes a good pairing with the Kunsthalle across the way. If you know Bremen only through the market square and Schnoor, this is a reminder that the city has a serious art circuit as well as postcard lanes.
