The city museum covers local history, natural history, and decorative arts across a large building near the Rathaus. It's less focused than the Salt Museum but worth a visit for its medieval artefacts and the section on the city's development over the centuries. The natural history collection includes regional fauna and geology that helps explain the distinctive landscape of the Lüneburger Heide.
