Rathaus

Medieval town hall complex spanning five centuries of architecture

Lüneburg's town hall is a complex of connected buildings spanning several centuries, from a 13th-century core to a Baroque facade added in the 18th century. The interior can be visited on guided tours and contains some remarkable rooms — the Great Council Chamber in particular, with its carved woodwork and painted ceiling. The building is a useful illustration of how wealthy and civic-minded the city was during its salt heyday.

Tours: Guided tours of the interior run at weekends; check at the tourist office on Am Markt for times and prices.
