Haus Weitmar is a Ruhr-style restaurant housed in one of the few surviving nineteenth-century buildings in the southern Weitmar neighbourhood, near the Museum Bochum art collection. The menu is rooted in Westphalian cooking — pot-roasted meat, hearty soups, Altbier on draught — with seasonal additions that show genuine kitchen effort.
It is a 15-minute tram ride from the centre but worth the trip if you want to eat away from the Bermuda3Eck crowds. The terrace is pleasant in summer. Reservations recommended at weekends.
