Zoo Dortmund sits south of the city centre beside Rombergpark Botanical Garden. It is especially strong on South American species, with breeding programmes for giant anteaters, giant otters, tamanduas, and other animals that are less common in European zoos.
The zoo works well as a family stop and pairs naturally with a walk through Rombergpark next door. Allow a few hours if you want to see both without rushing.
