The city centre is easily walkable but most visitors quickly adopt the local habit: rent a bicycle. The Radstation at the main station rents bikes by the day at reasonable rates and provides maps of the city's extensive cycle path network. The Promenade ring around the old town gives you a car-free circuit from which everything in the centre is accessible.
Bus services cover the city and inner suburbs; the Stadtwerke Münster operates frequent routes. Taxis are available but rarely needed in the centre. For day trips into the Münsterland — visiting the scattered Wasserburgen (moated castles) — a bicycle is ideal for shorter rides; car or bus for the more distant ones.
