Münster is well connected by rail. The main station (Münster Hauptbahnhof) sits on the important Dortmund–Münster–Osnabrück–Bremen route and is served by frequent intercity trains. From Cologne or Düsseldorf the journey takes about 90 minutes; from Hamburg around 2 hours. The station also has good regional connections to the Münsterland countryside.
By road, Münster sits at the junction of the A1 (Dortmund–Osnabrück) and A43 motorways. Münster Osnabrück Airport, about 25 kilometres north of the city, has flights to German and European destinations, though Dortmund Airport and Düsseldorf Airport are also within reach for broader international connections.
