Munster Palace was completed in 1787 as one of Germany's last major high-Baroque buildings. Its sandstone and red-brick facade is the main reason to come: the palace was badly damaged in the Second World War, and the exterior was rebuilt while the interior became more functional.
Today the building belongs to the university administration. You are mostly here for the outside view and the broad palace square, especially when it is not taken over by events.
