The small cafe attached to Pfunds Molkerei occupies the same tiled space as the dairy shop — there is no separation between shopping and sitting. You order coffee and a slice of cake at the counter, take it to a marble-topped table, and eat surrounded by the hand-painted Villeroy & Boch tiles that cover every surface from floor to ceiling.
The food is straightforward: coffee, hot chocolate, a rotating selection of cakes and pastries. Nothing remarkable on the plate, but the setting is incomparable. Mornings are less crowded than afternoons. It fills up after midday with tour groups coming through from the Neustadt.
Pfunds is on Bautzner Straße in the Äußere Neustadt, about fifteen minutes' walk north of the Albertsbrücke over the Elbe.
