Getting There

By train is easiest. Dresden is about 2 hours from Berlin, 70 minutes from Leipzig, and 2.5 hours from Prague on fast through services. Most long-distance trains stop at both Hauptbahnhof (at the southern edge of the Altstadt) and Dresden-Neustadt — check before you board, as a few use only one station. By air, Dresden International Airport is 9 km north of the centre, connected by S-Bahn to Hauptbahnhof in about 20 minutes; it has regional flights to a handful of German and European cities but no major long-haul service. By road, Dresden is on the A4 (from Frankfurt/Leipzig in the west and Görlitz in the east) and the A13 from Berlin.
