Görlitz is served by the Görlitz Hauptbahnhof (main station), with regular train connections to Dresden (about 1 hour 20 minutes) and beyond. From Dresden, there are fast connections to Berlin, Prague, and the rest of the German rail network. The journey from Berlin takes around 3 hours by train via Dresden.
By car, Görlitz is about 170 km from Dresden on the A4 autobahn, roughly 90 minutes. The Polish A18 motorway starts just across the border in Zgorzelec and connects to the broader Polish network. The nearest airports are Dresden (about 100 km) and Wrocław in Poland (about 140 km).
The town itself is best explored entirely on foot — the compact historic centre makes a car unnecessary and the streets are largely pedestrianised.
