The historic centre is compact and best explored on foot — almost everything worth seeing is within a 15-minute walk of the Marktplatz. The Schlossberg is a short but steep climb from the lower town; there is a path from the Finkenherd quarter that winds up through gardens. Parking is available on the edge of the old town, as the lanes are narrow and many are pedestrianised.
