Quedlinburg rewards slow exploration. The old town is essentially one enormous open-air museum of timber-frame architecture — over 1,300 half-timbered houses spanning five centuries — and the Schlossberg hill looming above it all anchors every visit. Start at the top with the Collegiate Church and work your way down through the lanes.
