Mylau Castle

A short drive south-east into Saxony, Mylau Castle is a tightly walled medieval fortress perched on a rocky outcrop above the Göltzsch. Founded in the 12th century, much-rebuilt over the centuries, it now houses the town museum of Mylau with sections on local history, the textile industry, and the Vogtland's mining past.

Combine with a visit to the Göltzsch Viaduct, two kilometres down the valley.
