Mesimvria-Zone Archaeological Site

Coastal ruins of an ancient Samothracian colony west of Alexandroupolis.

Mesimvria-Zone is a small but worthwhile archaeological site on the coast west of Alexandroupolis. It was a colony connected with Samothrace, with visible remains of city walls, houses, streets, and sanctuaries near the Thracian Sea.

The setting is part of the appeal. Visit it as a coastal history stop, not as a monumental ruin on the scale of Delphi or Olympia.
