Afentis Christos is a tiny islet just off the Malia coast, named for the small chapel that sits on it. It is more a landmark than an excursion, but it gives the waterfront a visual point of interest beyond sunbeds and beach bars.
Look for it on a coastal walk or from the beach in calm weather. Like many small Greek chapel-islets, it has an appealing simplicity: white walls, blue water, and a sense that the sacred has been placed exactly where the land runs out.
