Malia Beach is the convenient resort beach: sandy, organised and close to the bars, hotels and restaurants. It is easy, social and busy, with the full apparatus of a summer package resort.
That can be exactly right if you want sunbeds, drinks and no logistical effort. If you are looking for quiet, aim east toward Potamos or use Malia as a base for beaches elsewhere on Crete.
