Stalida, also called Stalis, lies just west of Malia on the same north-coast resort strip. It is softer around the edges than Malia: still touristy, still beach-focused, but usually less frantic after dark.
It is useful if you are staying in Malia and want a change of evening scenery without travelling far. Walk, take a short taxi, or use the local buses that run along the coast road in season.
