Roman Baths

The Roman baths at Dion are one of the best-preserved bathing complexes in northern Greece. Built in the 2nd century AD when Dion was a prosperous Roman city, the baths feature elaborate mosaic floors depicting marine creatures, geometric patterns, and mythological scenes. Several rooms are intact enough to read the full sequence from changing room through cold, warm, and hot bathing areas.

The mosaics are covered and accessible on foot, protected by a roof that shelters them without obscuring the view. Some of the finest mosaic panels have been lifted and are now on display in the museum, but enough remains in situ to give a good impression of the original decoration.
