Elefsina is 20 kilometres west of central Athens and easy to reach without a car.
The suburban rail (Proastiakos) runs from Athens Larissa Station to Elefsina station. The journey takes about 35 minutes. From the station it is a short walk down to the waterfront and the archaeological site.
Buses on the A16 route run from the Kifissos intercity bus terminal in Athens (and various points along the way) directly to Elefsina. The bus is slower than the train but cheaper and runs more frequently. Journey time is 45–60 minutes depending on traffic.
By car, take the Athens–Corinth motorway (A8/E94) west from Athens and exit at Elefsina. Parking is available near the site. The drive takes 25–35 minutes outside of rush hour — Athens western suburbs can be congested in the mornings.
The archaeological site and museum are open daily except Tuesdays. Confirm current hours before visiting, as they change seasonally.
