Ios has some of the best beaches in the Cyclades, ranging from the busy resort strip at Mylopotas to completely undeveloped coves that require a hike or a boat to reach. Mylopotas — a long sweep of golden sand south of Chora — is the centre of the beach scene, with sunbeds, watersports, and beach bars. Beyond it, the southern and eastern coasts have numerous smaller beaches that are almost deserted outside peak season.
