Getting There

Kefalonia has its own international airport, Ioannis Metaxas Airport, about 9 kilometres south of Argostoli. In summer it receives direct charter flights from many European cities, particularly the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands. From Athens, there are several daily flights (about 45 minutes) with Olympic Air, Sky Express, and other carriers.

By ferry, the most useful connection from the mainland is the Killini (in the Peloponnese) to Poros route, or the Patras to Sami route. From Lefkada to the north, a ferry connects Vasiliki to Fiskardo. The ferry from Sami to Patras takes about 3 hours.

In summer, boats also connect Kefalonia with Zakynthos and Ithaca.
